About Us

Where the heat meets the chill.

Nestled in the heart of the Perthshire countryside at Denhead Farm, Ice & Embers is a place to slow down, reconnect and reset. Surrounded by rolling farmland, open skies and beautiful views across the River Isla, our wood-fired sauna offers an escape from the pace and pressures of modern life. Here, nature sets the rhythm. The crackle of the fire, the fresh country air and the changing seasons create a space where you can truly switch off.

Inspired by Nordic wellness traditions, we combine the deep warmth of a traditional wood-fired sauna with the invigorating benefits of cold-water immersion. Whether you’re seeking recovery, relaxation, clarity or simply a moment of stillness, Ice & Embers provides a space to reconnect with both yourself and the natural world around you.

More than just a sauna, we are building a community. A place where people can gather, share experiences, embrace the elements and enjoy the simple pleasures of heat, cold and meaningful connection.

Whether you join us for a community session or a private escape, we invite you to leave the outside world behind, breathe deeply and experience the restorative power of nature.

We can’t wait to welcome you.

Slow Down. Be Present. Reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your session to allow time for parking and walking to our off-grid sauna location.

There is a short walk from the car park through the top field to the sauna and cold plunge area. We recommend arriving ready in your swimwear and/or dry robe, as we do not currently have changing facilities on site.

Unfortunately, if you arrive late, we are unlikely to be able to extend your session, so please ensure you arrive in plenty of time and ready to enjoy your experience.

What should I bring?

Please bring:

  • Suitable swimwear (avoid metal fastenings, as these may become hot when heated)
  • Two towels – one to sit on in the sauna for hygiene and one to dry off afterwards
  • Flip-flops, Crocs or suitable footwear to wear between the sauna and cold plunge area
  • Water bottle – we provide complimentary fruit-infused water, but it is important to stay hydrated
  • Warm clothing for after your session

Please note that we do not have showers or running water on site.

For your safety, please do not take glass bottles or metal water bottles into the sauna.

We provide a sheltered area for personal belongings and hooks for towels. Please keep belongings to a minimum and avoid bringing valuables, as all items are left at your own risk.

How long are sauna and cold plunge sessions?

Our standard sessions last 55 minutes.

We recommend limiting sauna exposure to a maximum of 20 minutes at a time. If sauna bathing is new to you, start with shorter sessions of 3–5 minutes and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.

Take regular breaks to cool down, spend time in the fresh air, use the cold plunges, or cool off using the buckets provided.

Please use the watering cans to rinse off before entering the cold plunges.

Most importantly, listen to your body and participate at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Will I be sharing the sauna space?

This depends on the type of session you book.

Community Sessions
Our community sessions are shared experiences with up to 6 guests using the sauna and cold plunge area.

Private Sessions
Private sessions are available if you would prefer exclusive use of the space for yourself, friends, family or a group. Private bookings can accommodate up to 8 guests.

What are your age restrictions?

Unfortunately, due to our insurance requirements, we are unable to admit anyone under 16 years of age.

What facilities are available on site?

As you arrive at the car park, you will pass Denhead Farm Shop, where you will find:

  • Toilet facilities
  • Hot drinks
  • Local produce and refreshments

Please note that Ice & Embers currently does not have changing rooms, showers or running water on site.

Will you be open all year round?

Yes.

At Ice & Embers, we embrace every season. Whether it’s sunshine, rain, frost or crisp winter mornings, the sauna experience remains just as enjoyable and beneficial.

In the unlikely event of severe weather conditions, such as high winds or thunderstorms, we may need to cancel or reschedule sessions for safety reasons. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible.

Is the cold plunge mandatory?

No. The cold plunge is completely optional.

Many guests enjoy alternating between the sauna and cold water, while others simply relax in the sauna and fresh air. You are welcome to participate in whichever elements of the experience feel right for you.

Can I visit if I have never used a sauna before?

Absolutely.

Our sessions are suitable for both beginners and experienced sauna users. We encourage first-time guests to take things slowly, stay hydrated and listen to their bodies throughout the session.
